1.4. Create Assembly

1.4.1. Shaft (Flexible)

Attach the external gearset and bearings to the flexible shaft, as follows:

  1. Select the Shaft_Flexible object in the Motion tree.

  2. In the Details panel, under Attachments > External Gears, click Tabular Data.

  3. In the External Gears dialog, click the   button to add section data as follows:

    ParameterValue

  4. In the Details panel, under Attachments > External Gears, click Apply.

  5. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Tabular Data.

  6. In the Rolling Bearings dialog, click the   button to add section data as follows:

    B6203_1Inner RacewayRP_S_R
    B6203_2Inner RacewayRP_S_L
  7. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Apply.

1.4.2. Shaft (Beam)

Attach the external gearset and bearings to the flexible shaft, as follows:

  1. Select the Shaft_Beam object in the Motion tree.

  2. In the Details panel, under Attachments > External Gears, click Tabular Data.

  3. In the External Gears dialog, click the   button to add section data as follows:

  4. In the Details panel, under Attachments > External Gears, click Apply.

  5. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Tabular Data.

  6. In the Rolling Bearings dialog, click the   button to add section data as follows:

  7. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Apply.

1.4.3. Housing

Attach the bearings to the housing, as follows:

  1. Select the Housing object in the Motion tree.

  2. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Tabular Data.

  3. In the Rolling Bearings dialog, click the   button to add section data as follows:

  4. In the Details panel, under Attachments > Rolling Bearings, click Apply.

1.4.4. Fixed Joints

Create two fixed joints on the Housing as follows:

  1. Expand the Model branch in the Project tree and right-click Connections.

  2. Select Insert > Joint.

  3. Define two fixed joints as shown below.

  4. In the Connections > Joints branch, expand the each of the new fixed joints and select the Reference Coordinate System object (see below).

  5. In the Details panel, under Origin, set Define By to Geometry Selection and use the Face selection tool (CTRL+F) to select the face corresponding to each joint (see below).

1.4.5. Update Assemblies

Update the two shaft bodies as follows:

  1. Right-click the Shaft_Flexible object in the Motion tree.

  2. Select Create Geometry.

  3. Right-click the Shaft_Beam object in the Motion tree.

  4. Select Create Geometry.

  5. Right-click the Housing object in the Motion tree.

  6. Select Create Geometry.

  7. Right-click the External Gear Set object in the Motion tree.

  8. Select Calculate Tooth Stifness.
