The System Coupling system launches the System Coupling tab, allowing you to model one-way and two-way multiphysics couplings for your project. To run a coupled analysis using System Coupling in Workbench, connect a System Coupling system to two coupling participant systems. The System Coupling system will synchronize and manage the participants' data transfers and the coupled solution.
Tip: For detailed information on creating and running coupled analyses using the Workbench interface, see Using System Coupling in Workbench in the System Coupling User's Guide.
To work through a System Coupling system, perform the following steps:
Add two supported participant systems to the Project Schematic and complete their physics setups.
Add a System Coupling component system by dragging the system from the Toolbox and dropping it onto the Project Schematic.
Connect the System Coupling system to the other systems through their Setup or Solution cells.
Note:The Command Line Options property located in the System Coupling Solution cell is for advanced users with a strong understanding of the appropriate command line arguments that can be used when starting System Coupling. For more information, see Command-Line Options in the System Coupling Settings and Commands Reference.
Once the systems are connected, you can export the files needed to run the coupled analysis in one of System Coupling's user interfaces. The export can be performed either before or after the coupling setup is completed in Workbench. For details, see Exporting a System Coupling Setup in the System Coupling User's Guide.
Open the System Coupling tab by double-clicking the System Coupling system's Setup cell. When asked is you want to read upstream data, click Yes.
The System Coupling tab opens, with coupled analysis details shown in the Outline pane's tree view. To view or edit a given property, select it in the Outline to show its value in the Properties pane.
Complete the coupling setup, as follows:
Add data transfers by multi selecting the participant coupling regions, right-clicking, and selecting Create Data Transfer.
Specify data transfer details by selecting the data transfer and editing property values in the Properties pane.
Specify execution controls by selecting a node under Execution Controls and editing property values in the Properties pane.
Once the setup is complete, run the coupled analysis by right-clicking the Solution node and selecting Update.
