4.5. Overset Meshing Compatibilities

If you have enabled beta feature access (as described in Introduction), the following are supported as beta features as part of a case with overset meshing.

  • For modeling turbulence, the Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) model, the Shielded Detached Eddy Simulation (SDES) model, and the Stress-Blended Eddy Simulation (SBES) model have beta support with overset meshes. Note that SDES and SBES models must be used as part of a fully supported turbulence model, as described in Compatibilities.

Note:  You must ensure that the overlap boundaries do not overlap any inlet, outlet, or far-field boundary where flow enters the domain and turbulence parameters are defined.

  • When computing aerodynamically generated noise, the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW-H) acoustic model has beta support with overset meshes, as long as the FW-H surfaces do not intersect the overset boundaries.
