Specifying a Heat Condition

To specify a heat condition:
  1. Select Heat from the dropdown menu of the Thermal tool in the Physics group of the Simulation tab, or by selecting the Heat tool in the Thermal condition HUD.
  2. Select one or more faces or bodies. A combination of faces and bodies is not permitted.

To filter the selection by face, all faces of body, construction geometry, body, or physics region, click the Advanced filters tool. Only valid geometric entities will be available for selection. If your model contains Named Selections, click Link named selections to choose one from the list.

  3. Specify the value for heat. A positive value will transfer heat into the model (a heat source), where as a negative value will transfer heat out of the model (a heat sink).
    • Select Total heat to apply heat transfer to either a surface or body as a total heat (in Watts).
    • Select Heat per unit area to apply heat transfer to selected faces as a heat per unit area (W/m2).
    • Select Heat per unit volume to apply heat transfer to selected bodies as a heat per unit volume (W/m3).
