Specifying Automatic Mesh Refinement for Topology Optimization
Automatic mesh refinement is off by default, but you can turn it on to automatically
refine the mesh during optimization. Note that the mesh refinement depends on the target
fidelity set. When automatic mesh refinement is on, topology optimization begins with a
coarser resolution, then refines the mesh during optimization to reach the specified fidelity
at convergence. If a low target fidelity is set, refinement may not occur because there is no
advantage in doing so, in terms of the computational time saved.
From the Simulation tab ribbon, select the
Global dropdown menu. The Global fidelity options appear.
For Automatic mesh refinement, click
and select Program controlled.
