6.2.2. Buoyancy Force on Particles

The buoyancy force is the force on a particle immersed in a fluid. The buoyant force is equal to the weight of the displaced fluid and is given by

(6–16)

where is the gravity vector.

This leads to the following contribution to the right hand side of Equation 6–7:

(6–17)

The buoyancy force has no contribution to the particle momentum source into the continuous phase.
