5.3.1. Translational Periodicity

In this case, the two sides of the interface must be parallel to each other such that a single translation transformation can be used to map Region List 1 to Region List 2. The trivial case is where the two sides already coincide so that a translation of <0, 0, 0> is used; this is equivalent to a general connection with no frame change or pitch change (discussed below).

A translational periodic interface could be used, for example, to represent an infinite straight row (a linear cascade) of turbine blades. For details, see Translational Periodicity.
