VM305 requires a supplemental .cdb input file which is too long to include full input listings. This file must be downloaded and placed in your working directory for the test case to run properly. Additionally, the geometry and mesh should be regenerated. Download link: MAPDL Test Case Files for 2024 R2 vm305.cdb |
Test Case
A plate made of functionally graded material has a Young’s modulus that varies along the x direction exponentially as .
The plate is in a plane strain state and under uniaxial tension.
The final stresses are determined at certain positions and compared with the reference solution.
Material Properties | Geometric Properties | Loading |
---|---|---|
Material is defined via TBIN,ALGO using the 15 supporting points in Figure 555: Supporting Points for TBIN,ALGO. | W = 1 m | Uniaxial tension u0 = 0.2 m |
Analysis Assumptions and Modeling Notes
The problem is solved using the 2D PLANE182 element with the plane strain option (KEYOPT(3) = 2).
The functionally graded material is defined via TBIN,ALGO.
The plate is subjected to uniaxial tension.
Stresses in the Y direction are acquired via *GET during postprocessing (POST1).
