To simulate the grain size effects, four synthetic microstructure representative volumes with decreasing average grain sizes are generated.
The representative volumes are cubic with an edge length of 50 mm. The volumes comprise of a total of 125000 voxels (50 x 50 x 50 arrangement), and each voxel is associated with a Euler angle for grain orientation and grain ID for identifying which grain it belongs to. The Euler angles for all grains are randomly generated.
The microstructure data are stored as structured-grid .vtk files, as shown:
