2.5.4. Files for Transfer to Ansys Mechanical

Check this option to write out files required by Ansys Mechanical if you want an alternate method to perform cutoff, or if you want to simulate a prescribed cutoff sequence in Mechanical. One zipped file, sim#-mapdl.zip, is written and it includes the following individual files:

  • Model.cdb: A file containing mesh, material, and named selection information. (In Mechanical, named selections allow you to group similar geometry or meshing entities.)

  • States.ist: A file containing Additive Print's on-plate end-state information (elastic strains, plastic strains, and accumulated equivalent plastic strain). This will provide the initial stress state for subsequent processing in Mechanical.

  • Knockdowns.ist: A file containing element (voxel) density information.

  • Displacements.csv: A file containing Additive Print's on-plate end-state displacements.

For details on how to use these files in Mechanical, read our additional instructions here.
