Chapter 2: Simulation of a Multi-Axis DED Process (Beta)

Multi-axis DED refers to a Directed Energy Deposition process that uses tools that move in four or more directions, implying that the print direction might be greater than one or that it changes throughout the process. To simulate a multi-axis DED process, use G-Code clustering and set the Print Direction to 3D (Beta) on the G-Code Clustering object.

Consider the following example of a propeller.

The G-Code file defines a print path starting from the hub and directed radially outward, as shown below. In the visualization, a green line appears at the top of each new deposition layer.

On the G-Code Clustering object, choose 3D (Beta) for Print Direction.
