Types of Sounds

In Ansys Sound: ASDforEV you can create different types of active sounds as well as single sounds triggered on specific events (warnings, alarms, etc.).

Active Sounds

The active sounds allow the reproduction of vehicle interior and exterior sounds, they include the following 3 types of sounds.
  • SAF sound (Speed and Acceleration Feedback) is an artificial active sound meant to be played inside the car cabin, to enhance the driving experience and provide feedback on the vehicle's dynamics.
  • ICE-ASD sound (Internal Combustion Engine - Active Sound Design) creates harmonics matched to the engine orders to enhance the engine sound perception in the vehicle cabin.
  • AVAS sound (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System) is an artificial active sound meant to be played outside of the vehicle so that nearby pedestrians are aware of the vehicle's presence and movement. AVAS sounds are mandatory for quiet vehicles and use independent system and speaker(s). They can often be heard inside the car cabin.

Event-triggered Sounds

Event-triggered sounds are sounds played upon specific events, related to driver commands (turn indicator or reverse gear for example), warning messages (unfasten seatbelt for example), etc. They include the following 3 types of sounds.
  • The ADAS sounds (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) provide information to the driver or alerts him of danger or malfunctions requiring attention.
  • The HMI sounds (Human Machine Interface) correspond to various sound functions providing valuable information, indications, or feedback to the driver and/or the passengers.
  • The Ambiance sounds correspond to the general welcoming atmosphere.
