Installing DewesoftX and its Plugin

This procedure explains how to install DewesoftX software and activate a specific plugin so that you can use the ASDforEV CAN reader application to receive data from a CAN bus through a DS-CAN2 device.

Prerequisites: ASDforEV and ASDforEV CAN reader are already installed on your computer. You must be in possession of a DS-CAN2 device.
  1. Go to the Dewesoft download page, download the latest version, and install it.
  2. Place the file DewesoftReaderPLPlugin64.dll located next to ASDforEV CAN reader program folder ( C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v242\Acoustics\ASDforEV\Plugin-CAN) in the folder C:\Program Files\DewesoftX\Bin64\Addons64.
    Note: These file paths are the default ones. If you have defined other destination folders during the installations, browse to the destination folders you have set, then to Acoustics\ASDforEV\Plugin-CAN and/or to Bin64\Addons64.
  3. Connect the DS-CAN2 device to your computer.
    Important: Connecting the DS-CAN2 device to your computer is mandatory to perform the following steps because the DewesoftX license is attached to the device.
  4. Launch DewesoftX software.
  5. Once DewesoftX software is launched, go to Options > Settings.
  6. Go to Extensions, and click the + button.
  7. Tick DewesoftReaderPL to activate this plugin.
    The plugin icon appears in the Ch.setup tab.

  8. Close DewesoftX.
ASDforEV CAN reader for DS-CAN2 device is now ready to use with ASDforEV.
