Setting a Magnitude

What is a Magnitude?

The Magnitude is used for colorimetric and spectral maps and allows you to set a specific color component to make measures on the value of this component only.

The average measure of the color coordinates on an area gives the statistical average of this color coordinate on this area. The colorimetric diagram of an area gives the color of the average spectrum on this area. Both can differ because the colorimetric system conversion from the spectrum is not linear.

Note: The Magnitude column is hidden by default except for colorimetric and spectral maps.

How to set a Magnitude?

  1. Click the Magnitude cell of an area.

  2. From the list, select:

    • The default magnitude (Illuminance, Irradiance, Luminance, Radiance or Intensity). The default magnitude depends on the type of map.

    • A color component from the different color systems displayed in brackets. For more information on the different color systems and components, see Colorimetric Data.

    • Dimension (only available for Rectangles, Ellipses and Polygons) corresponding to the shape dimensions. To select Dimension, set Measure to Average.
