BSDF Generator Overview

This page gives an overview of the BSDF generator and describes how it works.

The BSDF generator allows you to compute BSDF data from analytical models.

It offers an alternative to optical measurement of samples that cannot be measured, that are rare, or difficult to source.

This tool is also useful to convert data. If the parameters of the model are known, you can define the BSDF and generate it to obtain a .bsdf (Ansys compatible) file.

This generator can be separated into two sections of interest:

The first part of the generator replaces a measurement device and allows you to set the angular sampling of the BSDF. In this section, you must define the sampling you want on specific points of interest.

Depending on the material you want to model, you will adjust and concentrate the sampling on certain areas (like a measurement device would).

The second part of the generator allows you to type the formula used to model the material.

Note: For more information about sampling or to find the list and definition of available models, see Parameters of the BSDF Generator.
