Prism

The Prism or prismatic lens spreads and redirects light in a specific direction.

Prismatic lenses are shaped by specifying target points or directions. Light passes through the prisms and is redirected to illuminate the defined area/direction.

Flat prisms - No spreading applied Curved prisms - Spreading applied
Influence of the Convex/Concave parameter - Convex elements on the left/Concave elements on the right.

The parameters to set depend on the Target type selected in the General tab.

Illuminance
  • X position: Coordinate of the point targeted by the prism along X target axis.
  • Y position: Coordinate of the point targeted by the prism along Y target axis.
  • X radius: Radius of curvature applied on the prism along X grid axis.
  • Y radius: Radius of curvature applied on the prism along Y grid axis.
Intensity
  • X Angle: Angle defining the direction targeted by the prism along X Target axis.
  • Y Angle: Angle defining the direction targeted by the prism along Y Target axis.
  • X Radius: Radius of curvature applied on the prism along X Grid axis.
  • Y Radius: Radius of curvature applied on the prism along Y Grid axis.
Note: Setting Radius to 0 gives a flat shape (meaning no spread).
Note: Radius must be higher than 2*grid step value.
