Target

The target defines how the results are going to be interpreted in the feature viewer.

The target is more or less acting like a sensor. You can choose from this section how the results are going to be interpreted and what pieces of information are going to be displayed in the feature viewer.

Target Type

The target type defines what kind of values/metrics will be available in the feature viewer (Optics tab). Two target types are available:

  • Intensity: with this type, intensity values will be displayed on an angular grid in the feature viewer. It is often used when the area to light is defined angularly.

  • Illuminance: with this type, illuminance values will be displayed in the feature viewer. Illuminance target is often used when the area to light is located at a known distance from the source.

Intensity result viewing direction

This parameter allows you to adjust the viewing direction of the observer.

From source looking at sensor (Intensity/Illuminance target): The viewing direction of the observer is the same as the light direction emitted.
From sensor (Intensity/Illuminance target) looking at source: The viewing direction of the observer is in the opposite of the light direction.
