Configuring the Environment for the Block Recording Tool

The following procedure helps you configure the SpaceClaim environment to use the Block Recording Tool with the Speos features.

To configure the environment:

  1. Make sure you meet the prerequisite for the CAD Associative Geometry Interface you want to use described in the following chapter.
  2. In Speos, click File > Speos Options
  3. Expand the File Options tab, and select Workbench.
  4. Deactivate the option Always use SpaceClaim's reader when possible if not already done to activate the Workbench Plug-In/Reader.

The option Always use SpaceClaim's reader when possible is activated by default.
  5. Make sure you have installed the Ansys Geometry Interfaces.
    • If you have not installed it:
      1. Refer to the following page and follow the procedure from Step 1 to Step 5.
      2. At Step 5, according to the CADs you want, select the Associative Geometry Interface. For instance: Catia, Version 5 Geometry Interface.
      3. Continue the procedure and finish the installation.
    • If you have installed the Ansys Geometry Interfaces without configuring the CAD Geometry interfaces:
      1. From Start, open Ansys 20XX RX > CAD Configuration Manager 20XX RX

      2. In the CAD Selection tab, check the CADs you want and select Workbench Associate Interface (in case of Catia V5, select CADNexus/CAPRI CAE Gateway).
      3. Click Next.
      4. In the CAD Configuration tab, click Configure Selected CAD Interfaces.
      5. Click Exit.
The Block Recording tool is ready to be used with Speos and imported CAD files.
