Unit settings

Change the currency and units displayed on datasheets and charts in Settings > Units.

These settings determine the units in which data is displayed. For example, mass could be displayed in kilograms (kg) using the Metric unit system or pounds (lb) using the US Customary unit system.

Changing the display unit system or currency does not affected data stored in the database - each database has a default unit system and currency, and its data values are stored in those units.

When you change the display units or currency:

  • Record data and selection criteria in all stages updates.
  • Chart axis titles update, with the following exceptions:
    • Single-attribute axis titles that have been edited.
    • Combined-attribute axis titles.
  1. To access the Chart settings, Click Settings and select Units.
  2. The following unit options can be changed:
    OptionDescription
    Preferred Currency
Choose a currency for displaying price and cost data.
    • To use the default database currency, select <None>.
    • To use your operating system's default currency (stored in regional settings), select <Automatic>.
Preferred Unit System Choose a system of measurement units for displaying data values.
    • To use the default database unit system, select <None>.
    • To use your operating system's default unit system (stored in regional settings), select <Automatic>.
    Units for Temperature
    • To use units of Kelvin, K, or Rankine, R, select Use Absolute Units for Temperature .
    • To use units of degrees Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F), select Use Display Units for Temperature.
Note: Absolute units are always used:
    • When a temperature unit is part of a unit expression.
    • On selection charts where a combined attribute which includes a temperature unit has been plotted on an axis.

When you open a saved selection project, data is displayed using the current unit system and currency, not those set at the time of saving.
