Schema tool

Use the MI Admin Schema tool to view and modify database schema items.

Choose a database

Choose the database to view or modify from the Current Database list.

Lock the database

Always lock the database before making any schema changes so that non-administrator users are prevented from viewing or editing data while you are making changes. Note that means that non-administrator users of all Granta MI applications, including MI Materials Gateway, will be unable to see the database until it is unlocked again.

Select database level objects

At a database level you can:

• Edit database properties
• Manage configuration files
• Set the units of measurement
• Set constants
• Create data validation rules
• Set Standard Names
• Manage Access Control categories
• Link related records
• Set up quality ratings for data
• Configure quick text search filters
• Create tables

Select table level objects

Within tables you can also:

• Modify Table properties
• Manage subsets
• Create search templates
• Create report templates
• Set up Excel template definitions for importing and exporting data
• Define mathematical expressions for use in Equations and Logic Attributes
