Support for assignment to Family Tables
MI Materials Gateway for Creo Parametric supports assignment to parts managed as Family Tables. This can include process, surface treatment and color assignments, and alternate assignments.
In the Creo Gateway, assignments can be made to generic and instance parts (if Creo is configured to assign materials to parts), or to bodies on generics and instances (if Creo is configured to assign materials to bodies).
By default, assignments made to a Family Table generic are inherited by its instances. When you make an assignment to an instance, this replaces all Granta MI assignments that it has inherited from the generic.
Note: MI Materials Gateway does not support multi-level (nested) structures for Family
Tables. You cannot assign data to the instances of a generic that is itself an
instance.
In an integrated Creo / Windchill system:
- MI Materials Gateway supports synchronization of Family Table assignments in the
Creo-to-Windchill direction only. Important: When Creo Parametric is configured to assign to bodies, synchronization of assignments from Creo to Windchill is only supported for generics. If you make body-level assignments to instances in Creo, these will be saved to the CAD part model, but will not be replicated as data objects in Windchill, and will not be visible in the Windchill Gateway.
- MI Materials Gateway does not support synchronization of Family Table assignments in the Windchill-to-Creo direction.
