What's New

  • The setup process (Express or manual) can now be run for the same domain more than once provided that a different AWS account is used each time.
  • During Express setup, you now have the option of using an existing Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) instead of Ansys Gateway powered by AWS creating one for you. You can also skip choosing a VPC during setup and specify one later instead. See Express Setup in the Administration Guide.
  • The ability to issue only private IP addresses for newly created machines is now available in Express-setup environments.
  • Applications from Ansys Release 2022 R1 are no longer available in Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
  • On the home page, the display of project spaces has been improved for greater usability:
    • Project spaces are now displayed in a simple list, enabling you to scan and find a project space more easily.
    • For each project space listing, the Region and Budget used details are displayed, providing key information about the project space and the ability to monitor spending at a glance.
  • The Create a project space wizard has been simplified and restyled for improved usability:

    • A project space is now scoped to a region. Instead of individually selecting availability zones, you select a single region.
    • The Description field has been removed.
    • You are no longer required to specify a Timezone.
    • The shutdown timer names are now consistent with the names displayed on the Shutdown timers tab in resource settings.

For more information, see Creating a Project Space in the Administration Guide.

Note: To align with the new project space methodology, Ansys recommends that you review your existing project spaces and modify any project spaces that have multiple availability zones from multiple regions. For each project space, keep the availability zones from one region only and remove the availability zones from other regions.
  • In the project space settings, on the Storage page, additional properties such as the mount path are displayed for shared folders. For clarity, the Remove action has been replaced by an Unmount action.
  • When viewing the Storage tab in a file storage server's details, a copy action is now available for copying the shared folder path to your clipboard, making it easier to copy and paste the path when needed.

CentOS Linux End of Life

CentOS Linux will reach End of Life on June 30, 2024. The community-based AWS CentOS 7.9 (x86_64) image remains available for resource creation in Ansys Gateway powered by AWS until a migration path to an alternate Linux OS is established.

To get CentOS support and security fixes for CentOS instances that you use in Ansys Gateway powered by AWS, you must arrange a support contract with a third-party vendor such as OpenLogic or TuxCare. For more information, see [broken link to: centos_support] in the Administration Guide.

Resolved Issues

  • When setting a budget for a project space, the Monthly budget field has been renamed Budget to properly reflect the way that this value is used in budget tracking and notifications. When setting a budget, set a total budget, not a monthly budget. (1027498)
  • On the project space creation form, the timer Shutdown virtual machine when CPU usage is low has been replaced with Stop HPC cluster when CPU usage is below, as the timer was not actually used for virtual desktops and applies only to HPC clusters. (1051730)
  • The Ansys DCS Design Point Service 2023 R2 package has been updated to correct an issue that was causing the DCS WebUI Connect option to be disabled on virtual desktops where this package was installed. (983092)
