Updating Eco Audit BoMs

Updates to sustainability data mean some data entered in Eco Audit Product Definition (.prd) files created using Granta Selector 2024 R2 or earlier will be removed from the BoM and might need to be reentered.

The following updates have been made to the product definition:

Primary and Secondary process name changes
Primary and secondary process names have been updated. If your BoM contains a user-defined record, the Primary and Secondary processes you previously selected for that component will be removed and will need to be reentered.

Note: If your component contains a Granta material record, previously selected processes will appear in the BoM using the updated name and will use any updated data values in the Eco Audit calculations.
Updates to End of life options
Downcycle and Recycle definitions have been updated. If you previously set the End of Life to either of these options, the End of Life details will be removed from your BoM and will need to be reselected.

For more information on End of Life updates, see Table 2.

Joining and finishing process units of measurement
The unit of measurement for some Joining and finishing processes has been updated. Any processes you entered whose units have been updated will be removed from your BoM. You should check that all data is still valid and reenter any data which has been removed.
Custom processes for reused parts
If your BoM contains a component specified as a reused part in Recycled content, the Primary process and Secondary Process will be removed if the component contains a custom process. You should check that all data is still valid and reenter any data which has been removed.
Important: You can check what data was previously entered by opening your project file in a text editor, such as Notepad, and viewing the data entered for each <Component>.
To ensure analysis of the full product life cycle, you must do the following for data not displayed in Granta Selector 2025 R2:
  1. Optional: Edit any user-defined records included in your BoM to add data values for any attributes that have been updated.
For more information about the attributes that have been updated, and details on editing user-defined records, see Updating projects containing user-defined records.
  2. Reselect the End of Life option. You should consider the updated definitions of the recyclability attributes in Table 2 before you do this.
Note: Although recycling attributes have been updated on record datasheets, the End of Life options available to select in Eco Audit are still 'Downcycle' and 'Recycle', as defined in Selector Reference.

This document is only available to customers with an Ansys ID.

  3. Reselect the Recycled content option.
  4. Optional: If you previously specified a value in the % recovered field, you will need to reenter this data as it will revert to the default value of 100%.
Warning: Previously entered data will be permanently deleted when you save any changes to your project.
