Updating projects containing user-defined records

Although all Ansys-provided reference materials have been updated to the latest version, if you have Selection Project (.ces) or Eco Audit Product Definition (.prd) files that were created in earlier versions of the software and contain values in user-defined records, you might need to manually update your data.

Any values entered in the user-defined record for attributes which have since been updated will not be displayed. Ansys-provided reference materials will display all updated attributes in Granta Selector 2025 R2.

The following attributes have been updated:

Table 1. Environmental attribute name updates
Previous name Current name
CO2 footprint, primary production (virgin grade) Climate change (CO2-eq) (virgin grade production)
Climate change (CO2-eq) primary production (virgin grade)
CO2 footprint, primary production (typical grade) Climate change (CO2-eq) (typical grade production)
Climate change (CO2-eq) primary production (typical grade)
CO2 footprint, recycling Climate change (CO2-eq), recycling
Embodied energy, primary production (typical grade) Embodied energy (typical grade production)
Embodied energy, primary production (virgin grade) Embodied energy (virgin grade production)
Table 2. Environmental attribute name and definition updates
Previous name Current name Definition
Downcycle Recycle

Indicates whether, when the material reaches its end of life, it can be recycled, regardless of the recyclate's quality.

Previously defined as: "Can be recycled but into a lower grade product"

Recycle Functional Recycle

The secondary material produced has a quality equivalent to that of the primary material and it can be used for the same (or similar) applications.

Previously defined as: "Can be recycled into same grade"

Process attribute names
All Process attribute names have been updated. For example:
  • 'Extrusion, foil rolling energy' is now 'Metal extrusion, hot, embodied energy'
  • 'Glass molding CO2' is now 'Glass molding, climate change (CO2-eq)'
Any data entered for process attributes in a user-defined record will be removed and will need to be reentered against the updated attribute name.
Important: You can check what data was previously entered by opening your project file in a text editor, such as Notepad, and viewing the <Properties> listed under <UserRecords>.
If your project contains a user-defined record with attributes that are not displayed in Granta Selector 2025 R2, you can:
  1. Edit your user-defined record to add these data values to the new attribute names.
  2. Create a new user-defined record in the project and enter your desired attribute values.
Warning: Previously entered data will be permanently deleted when you save any changes to your project.
