Family envelopes

Display bubble-like envelopes around the records belonging to each material family on a chart. You can choose which envelopes to display and their color, or define custom groups of records to display this way.

There are two types of family envelope:
System envelopes
The default envelopes for each data table, and represent material families. You may edit their name and display color, but you cannot edit their contents or delete them.
Custom envelopes
Can be added to selection projects. They behave in the same way as system envelopes, except you can define which records belong to them and delete them.
Note: Family envelopes are only available on bubble charts, and do not apply any selection criteria.
To show or hide all family envelopes:
  • Click Family Envelopes.
To add a custom envelope:
  • Select a record, right-click, then click Create Envelope
    You can select records from:
    • Browse tree
    • Search results
    • Chart Stage plots and results
    You can create a new envelope containing multiple records if required.
    Tip: You can make a copy of an existing envelope using Manage Envelopes.
To manage envelopes:
  • To select specific family envelope, click the down arrow on the right-hand side of Family Envelopes, and select Manage Envelopes.
    This allows you to select the envelopes that are shown, and to Edit or Clone envelopes, when editing envelopes, you can change:

    Name The name of the envelope.
    Tip: From a chart surface, you can rename the envelope by right-clicking the envelope label and selecting Rename Label.
    Color The color of the envelope
    Delete Selected Records Removes the selected records from the envelope.
  • To add records to a custom envelope, select the record or folder name, right-click and select Add to Envelope.
