55.2. Extended quantitative FTA evaluations

New event probability models

The basic fixed and exponential probability models of primary events have been extended with the new version to model repairable and monitored components. This enables a distinct evaluation of the unreliability and unavailability of a system. In addition, the generic Weibull distribution for components with non-constant failure rate and custom probability models (based on a user given probability distribution) are supported.

This allows to model and assess the reliability of a wide variety of systems and operational conditions that have a time dependent impact on the failure probability.

Probability charts

For time dependent failure probabilities medini analyze provides now also a chart feature that allows to visualize the probability over time (see above)

Computation of unreliability and unavailability

With the new event probability models a time dependent evaluation of unreliability and unavailability is supported. The (un-)availability at a given point in time, the (un-)reliability for the mission time as well as their averages can be calculated e.g. for the IEC61508 Probability of Failure per Demand (PFD) and Probability of Failure per Hour (PFH) and related evaluations. See the help section for more details on the new capabilities.
