You and other users submit simulation projects to Ansys HPC Platform Services using the Ansys HPC Job Manager web app, or from select Ansys applications (Workbench, Mechanical). A project can have one or more tasks associated with it.

Workers called evaluators connect to the Ansys HPC Job Manager to request task assignments for which they have compatible software and hardware capabilities. Once they obtain a task, evaluators start the processes required to execute the task, such as transferring input files and starting solvers. When a job has completed, evaluators return output parameters and files to the Ansys HPC Job Manager. You can then download outputs to your local machine.

Although an evaluator can run on the same machine where Ansys HPC Platform Services are running, it is especially powerful to run evaluators on multiple machines to widen the available range of operating systems, applications, and hardware profiles, achieving a heterogeneous distributed computing setup.
