3.3.16. Loads and Boundary Conditions

The Loads and Boundary Conditions group includes the following categories and preferences.

CategoryPreferenceDescription
AdvancedDisplacement on Cylindrical C.S. AxisOptions include Zero in Radial-Tangential Plane and Free in Radial-Tangential Plane. See the Converting Boundary Conditions to Nodal DOF Constraints (Mechanical APDL Solver) section for the scenario that employs this preference.
Improved PSD Load Goodness of Fit CriteriaChoose the criteria used for the Goodness of Fit calculation for PSD Base Excitation and PSD Pressure loads. Options include Yes (default) and No. When set to Yes, the application uses an improved criteria, and the No setting uses the legacy criteria.
ScriptingTabular Data TypeSpecifies the available data types for setting the magnitude of boundary conditions and loads via the Mechanical Scripting API. Options include:
  • Field: Supports scalar quantities, expressions, and legacy tabular data.

  • Flexible (Quantity, Expression, Table): Supports all boundary condition and load data types, including tables. This option applies to scripts that run under version 2024.2 and later of the Mechanical application.

For more information about using scripts to define boundary conditions and loads, see Boundary Conditions in the Scripting in Mechanical Guide.
