CNTGEN

CNTGEN, option, COMPC, COMPT, ICTY, ITTY, RID, MATID
Generates a contact pair based on components.

Valid Products: Pro | Premium | Enterprise | PrepPost | Solver | AS add-on

option

Specifies the type of contact pair to be generated.

ASYM

 —

Generates an asymmetric contact pair.

AUTO

 —

The program internally selects which asymmetric contact pair is used at the solution stage. For details, see KEYOPT(8) of CONTA174.

SYMM

 —

Generates a symmetric contact pair.

COMPC

The name of the element component used with a face ID or nodal component to generate the contact surface.

COMPT

The name of the element component used with a face ID/ or nodal component to generate the target surface.

ICTY

Contact element type ID. If ICTY is not specified, the program selects the next available contact type ID number.

ITTY

Target element type ID. If ITTY is not specified, the program selects the next available contact type ID number.

RID

Unique real constant ID number. If RID is not specified, the program selects the next available real constant ID number.

MATID

Unique material ID number. If MATID is not specified, the program selects the next available real constant ID number.

Notes

The CNTGEN command creates a contact pair based on element components with face ID (EFACE component(s) via the CMBLOCK command) or nodal components provided for the contact surface and the target surface. It generates contact elements CONTA174 and target elements TARGE170 over the given face of the exterior of a body meshed by 3D solid and shell elements.

If you specify element components with face ID (EFACE component(s) via the CMBLOCK command), the command generates contact elements CONTA174 and target elements TARGE170 over the given face of the body meshed by 3D solid, shell, gasket, and interface elements.

If you specify an element face ID of 0 or provide a nodal component, the command generates contact and target elements on the exterior faces of the body meshed by 3D solid, shell, gasket, and interface elements.

If the user-defined contact element type is CONTA175, the node-to-surface contact is defined by generating CONTA175 elements on the faces of the body meshed by 3D solid, shell, gasket. and interface elements.
