Starting the Project

  1. Set up a working directory on your computer.

  2. Download the pipeblade.zip file here .

  3. Unzip the pipeblade.zip file you have downloaded to your working directory.

  4. Start Ansys ICEM CFD and create a new project in your working directory. Use an appropriate name, for example Pipe_Blade.

    File > New Project

  5. Open the geometry file (geometry.tin).

    File > Geometry > Open Geometry

Note:

  • If you want Ansys ICEM CFD to behave exactly as this tutorial describes, you should go to the Settings Menu, click Selection, and disable Auto Pick Mode in the DEZ. Most experienced ICEM CFD users prefer to enable Auto Pick Mode as it improves efficiency. See Selection in the ICEM CFD Help Manual > Main Menu Area > Settings Menu for more detail.

  • Throughout this and other tutorials, Point Names, Curve Names, Vertex Numbers, and other identifying labels are made visible or turned off as necessary to assist in describing the steps of the tutorial. Most experienced users prefer to leave these labels disabled to reduce screen clutter.
