Add Data Transfers

Add data transfers to the co-simulation.

  1. Right-click Coupling Interface 1 and select Add FSI Data Transfers.

The Data Transfer branch is added to the tree, with Force and displacement transfers defined beneath it.

  2. Click the displacement transfer and verify the following settings in the Properties pane:

    1. Target Side is set to One (Fluid Flow Fluent).

This specifies the target side of the interface. In this case, Fluent will receive incremental displacements generated by Mechanical.

    2. Source Variable is set to Incremental_Displacement.

      This is Mechanical's output variable.

    3. Target Variable is set to displacement.

      This is Fluent's input variable.

    4. Convergence Target is set to 0.01.

  3. Click the Force transfer and verify the following settings in the Properties pane:

    1. Target Side is set to Two (MAPDL Transient).

This specifies the target side of the interface. In this case, Mechanical will receive forces generated by Fluent.

    2. Source Variable is set to force.

      This is Fluent's output variable.

    3. Target Variable is set to Force.

      This is Mechanical's input variable

    4. Convergence Target is set to 0.01.
