Most governing equations described in Basic Governing Equations are partial differential equations with respect to space and time. They are discretized with respect to the spatial coordinates of the system, on a computational grid based on a control volume approach. In addition, to provide time-accurate solutions, the equations are further discretized with respect to time following the operator-splitting method.
