17.4. Steady Two-Way FSI

Steady two-way FSI is a workflow procedure designed to achieve an equilibrium state (structure has reached a final deformed shape) using a series of steady FSI steps for two-way FSI simulations. Each steady step includes calculating the steady state solution followed by mesh deformation using dynamic meshing. The number of steady state steps specified are performed until convergence is reached.

The steady two-way FSI procedure is only available for the following models and solver settings and when beta feature access is enabled (as described in Introduction):

  • The Nonlinear Elasticity structural model.

  • Dynamic Mesh enabled.

  • Steady solver enabled.

Once the above settings and beta feature access are enabled, the steady two-way FSI procedure can be enabled by entering the following TUI command:

/define/models/structure/expert/steady-2way-fsi?

Enable steady 2-way fsi workflow [no] yes

With the steady two-way FSI workflow enabled, the solution can be calculated by entering the following TUI command, then specifying the number of steady steps and number of maximum iterations per steady step:

/solve/iterate-steady-2way-fsi
