22.2. Periodic Motion Fast Mesh Smoothing

For mesh motion that is driven by periodic displacement in time, it is possible to re-arrange the mesh motion algorithm to allow the solution of the mesh displacement system at the beginning of the simulation, and then only the mesh node coordinates are updated at every time step afterwards.

For time periodic displacements, it is possible to decompose the motion at the boundaries into real and imaginary components. Then, at the beginning of the simulation, the mesh displacement is solved on the whole mesh applying each component individually and storing the results. Finally, with those results, the mesh coordinates are updated at every time step.

The feature can be activated by selecting the Fast Mesh Smoothing on the Periodic Displacement panel as shown below:
