19.8. Time-Step-Independent Continuity Discretization with Frame Motion

When using the pressure-based solver with no dynamic mesh zones and/or sliding meshes, it is possible to use a time-step-independent continuity discretization for cases that have moving reference frame zones. This will reduce the degree to which the results are dependent on the time step size for transient simulations that use frame motion zones.

To enable the time-step-independent continuity discretization, perform the following steps:

  1. Enable beta features (Introduction).

  2. In the General task page, select Pressure-Based from the solver Type list and Transient from the Time list.

  3. In the Fluid or Solid dialog box, enable the Frame Motion option.

  4. Enable the following text command:

    solve set advanced transient-frame-motion-numerics

Note:  Even if the previous text command is enabled, the time-step-independent continuity discretization will not be used if the case contains one or more of the following:

    • Dynamic mesh zone

    • Sliding mesh zone
