The algebraic transition model belongs to the family of
Local-Correlation-based Transition Models (LCTM) and is a further simplification of the
Intermittency Transition Model which is based on a single transport equation for the
intermittency (gamma-transport-eqn). The simplification avoids using the transport equation
and formulates the intermittency as an algebraic equation. This is possible because it has been
observed that in the transport equation-based models, the source terms are dominant compared to
the convection/diffusion terms.
