14.5.8. Lift Coefficient Correction

14.5.8.1. Shaver-Podowski Correction

The lift correction model by Shaver and Podowski [590] is intended to damp the lift force near the wall, reducing it to zero when the gas is closer than one-bubble radius to the wall. The model improves the accuracy of the prediction of the void peak near the wall and overall robustness when used in conjunction with the turbulent dispersion and wall lubrication models.

The corrected lift coefficient is defined as:

(14–297)

where is the lift coefficient, is the distance from the wall, and is the bubble diameter.
