4.15. Stress-Blended Eddy Simulation (SBES)

Stress-Blended Eddy Simulation (SBES) is a hybrid RANS-LES turbulence model that uses the same shielding function as the SDES formulation (see Shielded Detached Eddy Simulation (SDES)), and adds the ability to switch (blend) from the underlying RANS model directly to any existing algebraic LES model (again, based on the shielding function). This functionality provides the name for the SBES model.

Note:  No special calibration has been performed for the combination of SBES with transition models (Transition SST, the Intermittency Transition model, or the Algebraic Transition model).
