Computing Differences in Monitored Locations

Computing differences in results is useful when, for example, you want to determine the pressure drop between two locations. To calculate the difference in results between two locations in your geometry:

  1. From the Monitors menu in the ribbon of the Simulation tab, choose Custom.
  2. With the Select tool active, select the primary location of the monitor. The selected geometry appears orange.
  3. Use the Select second location to compute difference tool to select the secondary location of the monitor. The selected geometry appears blue.
  4. Select a variable from the list in the Monitors HUD. Optionally, include any additional details to monitor, such as Minimum or Maximum values, and in some cases additional components, such as X, Y, Z directions. Click the green check mark to accept your settings.
  5. Solve and view the differences in results in the Monitors list by clicking in the top right corner of the graphics window. Learn more about what you can do with monitors in this list.
