Specifying a Bearing Load

To set up a bearing load:
  1. Select Bearing load from the dropdown menu of the Structural tool in the Physics group of the Simulation tab, or by selecting the Bearing load tool in the Structural condition HUD.
  2. Select a cylindrical face on which to apply the bearing load.

If your model contains Named Selections, you can click Advanced filters, select Link named selections, and choose one from the list.

Note: When analyzing more than one cylinder, be sure that you assign each cylinder its own bearing load condition.
  3. For Radial force, enter the value for the load acting radially, if applicable.
Radial (R) loads act at right angles to the bearing's axis of rotation. Its direction defaults to that of gravity.
  4. For Thrust force, enter the value for the load acting axially, if applicable.
The Axial or thrust (T) loads act parallel to the axis of rotation.
  5. Optionally, specify an Angle value if you want to alter the direction the radial load is applied.
