Accessing Additional Granta MI Materials
Discovery allows you to access additional materials by connecting to a Granta MI materials database. Granta MI databases are licensed separately.
To connect and load materials from Granta MI:
-
Go to File menu > Settings > Physics.
-
Under Material Defaults, select Granta MI
materials database.
Additional settings appear under the Granta MI Materials section.
-
Under Granta MI Materials, specify the URL of your Granta MI
application server.
Note: Contact your Granta MI administrator to find out the address of your Granta MI application server. Your access will be validated based on your Windows credentials.
-
Under Material Defaults, select Granta MI
materials database.
-
Choose the set of materials you want to load into Discovery by selecting the Database,
Table, and Subset.
Granta MI groups similar kinds of data into different categories, known as a Table. Subset provides a more focused view or selection of the data within a Table.
-
Restart Discovery for the changes to take effect.
Select Materials in the ribbon of the Simulation tab to access the additional materials from the list.Note: To see the materials loaded in from the Granta MI application server, disable Physics compatibility under the filter in the right side of the Material HUD.Note: For information about Granta Materials Data for Simulation (MDS), which is a built-in database of 700+ predefined materials included with Discovery, see Granta Materials Data for Simulation Licensing.
