7.1. The Configuration File

When it starts up, the Mechanical APDL searches for its optional configuration file, config.ans. This file enables you to change certain system-dependent information. Table 7.1: Configuration File Defaults and Ranges below lists the parameters in config.ans and the default, maximum, and minimum values for each parameter.

Although you can modify any of the parameter values in config.ans, typically the default values are the most efficient. The config.ans file should contain only the parameters for which you plan to modify values.
