5.4. Combining Short and Continuous Fibers

You can combine parts made of short fiber composites with layered composites as well as non-layered shell and solid parts. In particular, to combine short fiber composites with layered composites modeled in ACP, you can use different project schematics. One option is to include all the parts geometry and meshes in the ACP (Pre) system, connect its Setup cell to the Mechanical Model cell, and finally connect the Injection Molding Data Setup cell to the Mechanical Model cell.

Alternatively, you can separately define the model for the short fiber composite part and the layered composite in ACP.

When assembling multiple Mechanical Models, upstream Mechanical Models do not support transferring imported objects like element orientations and material fields (see Assembling External Models and Mechanical Models in Mechanical User’s Guide). Therefore, make sure to connect the Injection Molding Data systems directly to the Mechanical Analysis system.
