Using HDR Monitors

Optical simulation results can be displayed on HDR screens. To do so, a few settings must be adjusted.

  1. Turn on the visualization mode of the display:

    • Access the Windows Display Settings.

    • If you have multiple displays connected to the workstation, select the HDR-capable screen under Rearrange your displays.

    • Click Windows HD Color settings and toggle on the Stream HDR video option.

Note: If this option is not available, it means the selected display does not allow HDR.
    • Right-click the desktop and click NVIDIA Control Panel.

      • From the Display section, click Change resolution.

      • In Apply the following settings, verify if the Desktop color depth is set to HDR mode and set the Output dynamic range to Full.

  2. In Virtual Reality or Photometric Lab, access the Preferences. Then in the Monitor tab, from the Display drop-down list, select Standard display or HDR10 display.

Note: When selecting HDR10 display, you might need to restart the application for the change to be effective.
  3. Adjust the White Point Luminance to the screen's maximum luminance capability.

You can now visualize simulation results in HDR mode.

Note: For better rendering, make a characterization of the screen before usage.
