Calculating the Unified Glare Rating Value

Note: The UGR values can be calculated in the Virtual Photometric Lab and Human Vision Lab.
Important: To calculate UGR values, you must have generated the XMP map using a Radiance sensor defined from Frame (and not from Observer).

  1. Open an XMP map.

  2. Open the Measures tool.

  3. Click Maximize area.

  4. In the Magnitude column, select Glare.

  5. In the Measure column, select UGR_CIE_117:1995.

  6. In the Sources detection threshold field, type the luminance value, for example 400 cd/m².

    This threshold is the minimum value of luminance beyond which sources can be detected.

The UGR value is displayed in the Value column.
