Virtual Photometric Lab

Known Issue

Workaround or Solution

In some case, the 2D view of sections does not open. (TFS 970646 SF 68018)
  1. Close the viewer (and the Speos software if opened).
  2. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
  3. Open the Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Ansys Speos Application\XmpViewer\3f1d key.
  4. Assign 0 to X and Y coordinates.
  5. Close the Windows Registry Editor.
  6. Open the viewer.

  1. Export a XMP map containing spectral data as *.txt.
  2. Import the *.txt file.

Original XMP map and XMP map from *.txt file are different. They should be identical.

This is due to a colorimetric computation during the *.txt import, which is different from the colorimetric computation during a simulation. (TFS 917425)

  1. Export the XMP map as *.xmp with Include spectral data check box deactivated.
  2. Open the exported XMP map, and export it as *.txt.
The more layers (sources, faces, sequences, or incident angles layers) in the XMP map, the slower the switch between layers. (TFS 692280)
Relative Standard Error map: In some cases, black pixels might have a relative standard deviation value other than 0%. (TFS 31130)
In some cases, the scale may not be included in the exported .jpg image. (TFS 21195 - SF 15669) Try to change the position of the scale before exporting.
When the size of the 2D measurement area is much smaller than the size of the pixel, the measurement results may be inconsistent. This is because the calculation uses a sampling of the pixel. If no sample reaches the area, then all the results equal zero. (TFS 18518 - SF 13578) When the size of the 2D measurement area is much smaller than the size of the pixel, use the "Point" shape instead of the "Ellipse" shape.

An imported Sequence Detection does not display the same information as before being exported. The mismatching information are:

  • All objects and faces have different labels.
  • the sequence list is not loaded.
  • Interactions No start to 1 whereas they start to 0 in the .txt file. (TFS 17081 / SF 11949)
Full HD maps (1920x1080 and higher resolutions) are not supported by the 3D Surface measure.
When you superimpose areas of measure, reverse contrast makes the area display disappear.
Microsoft Excel export can be slow and unusable. (CAS-3596-MYVY0P) Export with txt format and then import from Microsoft Excel.
The preview of XMP result having a resolution smaller than the icon's one is not correct.
Wrong initialization of the minimal and maximal Photometric Lab values of luminance conoscopic map. (CAS-5407-ZS15GG) Set the minimum and the minimal and maximal values manually
When opening a .xmp file for the first time with Windows 8, the file opens by default in a Windows application instead of the Virtual Photometric Lab. (CAS-11584-3VXTF4) You must right-click the .xmp, select Choose default program, and select Virtual Photometric Lab as default program.
Wrong spectrum data when the Remove Highest peaks option is enabled. (CAS-08551-0M4RYF) Unselect the Remove Highest peaks option.
Exporting values from an XMP file to MS Excel does not work although MS Excel is installed.

Opening a XMP file, set with a CIE standard different from the one in the global settings, from a CAD platform, impacts the default CIE standard.

Next color computations such as source color in the 3D view or color from the spectrum editor are performed using this modified standard. You might see a difference of color.

It also happens following a modification of the CIE standards from any lab. It does not happen for XMP files opened out of CAD platforms.

The 2D Chart Control Properties of the 2D view of section from the Measures of a XMP result is not accessible if the XMP result is opened from the Speos interface. (CAS-14064-6NNRMK) (TFS 692088 SF 40221) Open the result with the Virtual Photometric Lab outside of Speos.
