Ghost

The Ghost test gives the distance between the virtual image and the ghost image.

In detail:

For each sample EBij of the binocular eyebox, the "Ghost" gives the maximum, over the sample VIij of the virtual image seen from the sample EBij of the binocular eyebox, of the distance from the sample VIij of the virtual image seen from the sample EBij of the binocular eyebox to the sample VIij of the ghost image seen from the sample EBij of the binocular eyebox.

Note: The "Ghost" is expressed in arcminute in the report. In Workbench interface, the "Ghost" unit is not displayed as Workbench is not able to retrieve the HOA plugin's units. However, usually the units between the report and Workbench match.
Note: In the plugin, the ghost image is computed in three dimensions.

The result of the computation is displayed as a table that contains the "Ghost" computed for each sample EBij of the binocular eyebox.

Note: The Outer Surface parameter of the Windshield tab must be set when using the Ghost test.

In particular, you can notice that:

  • There is one table result by configuration created.
  • Each table has the size of the sampling of the virtual image.
  • The test also displays a sum up, for each configuration, of the Average, the Standard deviation, the Minimum and the Maximum of the value contained in the table.
