Light Guide Overview

Light Guides are thin pipes made of transparent material like plastic or glass meant to guide light in a specific direction.

A Light Guide is composed of a body (a pipe) and reflecting elements (prisms). Light travels through the pipe thanks to successive total internal reflections and a part of this light is extracted through reflection on the prisms.

Light Guides are optical components that are highly efficient in transmitting light. For this reason, they have various possible applications.

They are commonly used for interior design, accent lighting, backlighting, exterior lighting or tail lamps.

In Speos, the light guide can be linear or curved and the prisms' position, size and distribution can be customized.
