Importing an Optical Design System Created in Ansys Zemax OpticStudio

The following procedure helps you import an optical design system created in Ansys Zemax OpticStudio and set it in the Speos environment.

To import the optical design system:

  1. From the Light Simulation tab, in the Component click Optical Design Exchange .
  2. In the 3D view, define the Axis system of the Optical Design Exchange feature.
    • Click to select an origin point.
    • Click to select a line defining the X axis.
    • Click to select a line defining the Y axis.
    • or click and select a coordinate system to autofill the Axis System.
Note: If you define manually one axis only, the other axis is automatically (and randomly) calculated by Speos in the 3D view. However, the other axis in the Definition panel may not correspond to the axis in the 3D view. Please refer to the axis in the 3D view.
  3. In the Optical Component section, from the File field, browse and select a *.odx file containing the optical design system exported from Ansys Zemax OpticStudio.

You do not need to have Ansys Zemax OpticStudio installed to import an *.odx file into Speos.
  4. Click Compute to build the feature.
At the end of the feature compute the optical design system appears in the 3D view, together with the list of the geometries in the SpaceClaim Structure tree, and the list of Objects and Surfaces containing the optical properties information and geometry characteristics in the Speos Simulation tree.
Verify that all imported elements are correctly imported and that geometries and Objects/Surfaces are correctly associated.
