The Speos Pattern allows you to create and orientate multiple instances of a same source file
(Ray file source *.ray, *.tm25ray or Speos Lightbox *.SPEOSLightBox) so that you do not have to create the
same source multiple times in Speos and overload the Speos
tree and so its readability.
To create a Speos Pattern:
Note: We recommend you to create first the origins on which you want to position the instances of the
source pattern.

From the Light Simulation tab, in the Component
section, click Speos Pattern
.

In the Pattern section, browse and select a Ray File source (*.ray *.tm25ray) or a Speos Light Box
file (*.SPEOSLightBox) from which you want to create multiple instances.
Note: When using a black-boxed light box in a Speos
pattern, the bounding box of the light box can appear larger and sometimes incorrectly oriented in the
3D view.

If you selected a Ray File Source as pattern:

Define the Type of the flux between Luminous flux
(lm) and Radiant flux (W).

Define the flux value of the instances:
- Set From Ray File to True to use the flux
from the ray file.
- Set From Ray File to False and manually
define a value for a custom flux.

In One Layer Per Instance, define if you want to separate the data per
instance in layers in the XMP result. One layer will represent one instance in the result:
- Set to True if you want to create one layer for each instance in
the XMP result.
- Set to False if you want to create only one layer for all instances
in the XMP result.

If you selected a Speos Light Box as pattern:

If the file is encrypted, enter the password to use it.
Warning: In version prior to 2023
R1, passwords were not hidden. As soon as you open a project containing passwords, they are hidden and
you cannot retrieve them. Make sure to save your passwords in a safe place before opening your project
in 2023 R1 or subsequent versions.

In One Layer Per Instance define if you want to separate the data per
instance in layers in the XMP result. One layer will represent one instance in the result:
- Set to True if you want to create one layer for each instance in
the XMP result.
- Set to False if you want to create only one layer for all instances
in the XMP result.

In One Layer Per Source define if you want to separate the data per
source in the XMP result. One layer will represent one source in the result:
- Set to True if you want to create one layer for each source in the
XMP result.
- Set to False if you want to create only one layer for all sources
in the XMP result.
Note: If you set both One Layer Per Instance and One Layer Per
Source to True, one layer per source per instance will be
created.

In Optional or advanced settings
:
- In case of a Ray File Source, you can adjust the Number of rays per
instance and the Ray length to display in the 3D view.
- In case of Speos Light Box, you can define how to preview the Light Box in the 3D
view:
- Select Facets to display the shape of the Light Box.
- Select Bounding box to display a rectangular box containing the Light
Box.
Important: Make sure the bounding boxes of the Speos patterns do not overlap. Speos does not support
bounding boxes overlap.
Note: In case of a complex Speos Light Box, Facets may take long
to display whereas Bounding box may be faster.

In the 3D view, click
and select several origins.
Each instance of the pattern will be centered and oriented on each origin system listed.
Note: The same origin can be used in other Speos Patterns.
CAUTION: Make sure to use direct axis
systems (right-handed coordinate system) for Speos features. Indirect axis
systems (left-handed coordinate system) can generate unexpected results.

Click Validate

The source instances are automatically displayed in the 3D view.
Now you can add the Speos Pattern in a simulation either in the sources list or in the geometry
list. If the Speos Pattern is added in the geometry list, then only the Speos Pattern geometry will be
used and not the source.
